DESCRIPTION:Announcing: Kids Take the Stage Summer Theatre WorkshopPresented by The Arts at CSL in partnership with the Youth Center at the Center for Spiritual Living \nRegistration Deadline: Wednesday\, April 22 \nWorkshop Dates: June 8 to June 20 \nREGISTER HERE \nThe Arts at CSL\, in coordination with the Youth Center at the Center for Spiritual Living\, is pleased to introduce a new artistic opportunity designed especially for young people. The Kids Take the Stage Summer Theatre Workshop is a two-week immersive program that invites children ages 8 to 17 to explore the magic of live musical theatre and the performing arts. \nFeaturing a Fully Staged Production of The Lion King\, Jr.The Arts at CSL has secured the rights to present Disney’s The Lion King\, Jr. in a fully staged production on the main stage at the Center for Spiritual Living\, located at 4849 N. Dixie Highway\, Oakland Park. \nThis experience will culminate in two live performances\, including an opening night on Friday and a Saturday matinee\, giving families\, friends\, and the community the opportunity to celebrate the work and creativity of our young performers. \nWorkshop Overview: \n\nOver the course of two weeks\, participants will:\nBuild confidence\, emotional expression\, and stage presence\nDevelop social skills and a sense of community\nExplore their individuality and creative voice\nLearn to focus energy toward shared artistic goals\nSing\, dance\, and act in scenes from The Lion King\, Jr.\nPlay theatre games inspired by Viola Spolin\nParticipate in creating costumes\, props\, and scenic elements\nExperience the full process of producing a live performance\n\nThis workshop provides a supportive environment where children can express themselves\, discover new talents\, and experience the joy of performing. \nDates and Details: \n\nRegistration Deadline: Wednesday\, April 22\nWorkshop Dates: June 8 to June 20\nDays: Monday through Friday\nHours: 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM (includes a 30-minute break)\n\nA minimum of 20 students is required for the production. If the minimum is not met\, the workshop may be canceled and all payments returned. \nFee: $225 (all inclusive)Parents receive two complimentary tickets to either performance. Additional tickets will be available for $25. \nPerformances of The Lion King\, Jr. \n\nFriday\, June 19 at 7:00 PM\nSaturday\, June 20 at 2:00 PM\n\nAll sales are final. No refunds or credits will be issued for withdrawals or cancellations. \nMeet the Director: William “Bill” OlsonBill Olson brings a lifetime of professional theatre experience as an actor\, director\, designer\, and stage manager. His background includes: \n\nStudies at the North Carolina School of the Arts\nEducational roles at both high school and college levels\nManaging in-school programming for the New York City Ballet\nTouring management with NETworks Tours\, Cirque Productions\, and Wolfgang Bocksch Concerts\nSeven seasons as resident production stage manager for the Caldwell Theatre\nDirecting and scenic design for the Charlotte Players and Royal Palm Players\nEight years directing and production managing a Southwest Florida children’s summer theatre camp\n\nBill brings a strong commitment to guiding and developing young performers. \nREGISTER HERE
