Recovery requires acceptance. Acceptance of our hurt, anger, or pain. Recovery is also knowing you have the power to live free from the control of any situation. Releasing yourself from your hurt is a way to love yourself and reclaim your life back.

Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped from her bedroom in Salt Lake City. While in capture, she was raped daily and threatened if she made any attempts to escape.
She decided she wasn’t going to forgive. But something changed. She started with acceptance. Accepting the hurt, anger, and everything else she felt. And she started to love herself.
She dealt with the pain and engraved memories. She thought about being made captive and about someone else having control over her.
