Youth Center Classrooms

Nursery (Newborn to 3 years)

We provide childcare service for infants and toddlers. We believe seeds of spirituality can be planted even in the early years. Our volunteers provide a loving environment for babies and toddlers that supports their natural creativity.

Youth Service (4 to 12 years)

Our youth classes are all about learning in a fun and loving environment. We teach children to form an inner connection with Spirit. We work with them to develop character traits such as compassion toward others, creativity, respect and integrity.

Teen Program

The program focuses on teaching teens to understand their unique ability to create their own experience. As their bodies go through changes, so do their minds. We encourage and teach rites of passage into adulthood so they can make the transition from child to adult smoother. We also incorporate technology and apps for smart phones to help them develop a daily spiritual practice.

Youth Program Curriculum

Science of Mind principles form the basis of our youth curriculum. We teach children that Spirit manifests in and through all of creation. They learn how they can interact with Spirit as a co-creative partner. Our youth program present great ways to grow and nurture the innate curiosity and keenness that exists in our youth.

Key principles taught at CSL are:

  • Core Values
  • Life Skills and Strategies
  • Problem Solving
  • Making Good Choices
  • Self-Awareness and Self-Esteem

At Center for Spiritual Living we teach our youth to believe in themselves and trust their own intuition and wisdom. We provide them with a safe and nurturing environment to explore their spirituality and to gain a foundation of values using Science of Mind principles. We encourage our youth to develop a personal relationship with Spirit through the practices of:

  • Affirmations
  • Meditation
  • Arts, Crafts and Music
  • Service and Community

Meet Kirby!

Kirby Monestime
Youth Director

meet kirby

Kirby Monestime has been attending CSL for almost 3 years now. The CSL community has come to represent a path to love, abundance and spiritual refinement for him. Currently, Kirby is a Director of Marketing and Sales for a Dental Practice Management company. With over 15 years of marketing experience and supporting small and large clients like JPMorgan Chase and American Express, Kirby understands the importance of strong leadership, flexibility, organization and creativity.

Kirby grew up in Long Island NY, yes in the town of Amityville where the famous movie the Amityville Horror was filmed. At a very young age of 12, Kirby became a Junior Vacation Bible School teacher, providing kids ages 3-7 love and support through the creation and delivery of a Bible based curriculum. During his teenage years, he also played various leadership roles in supporting his local church’s Children’s Ministry as well as the Royal Rangers Spiritual Youth program. Kirby has always had a passion for inspiring young adults to live their fullest life.

Kirby relocated from NY to Fort Lauderdale in 2015 after meeting his amazing and loving better half Michael. Together they continue to explore and embrace the science of mind philosophy and teaching. Through volunteering in the CSL Sunday Youth ministry over the last 6 months, Kirby quickly realized that his heart was led to playing a larger role in the CSL community as well as in being a light to the youth in the church as they transform into loving, compassionate, self-fulfilling adults. In his spare time, Kirby works out, enjoys movies and can often be found spending time at home or having others come by for a meal and friendly fellowship. Kirby is excited to embark on this new role of Youth Director and welcomes thoughts, ideas or feedback on how to build a safe, loving and engaging community for our kids.

This Month’s Curriculum by week:

Your thoughts coupled with your emotions create a belief system. Sometimes these beliefs come from your family and background. You have the power to create a belief system that serves you.

Average people are reactive. Extraordinary people are proactive. Create a plan, agenda, vision, goals and a process. In order to improve our attitude, we need to understand that we can choose how we react to what happens to us. When you take responsibility for your life, you begin to improve your attitude. Under the worst circumstances, you can still opt to choose a great attitude.

Your emotions are your choice. Others cannot make you feel angry, mad or upset. You are the master of your emotions. You get to choose. Try separating yourself from your emotions. You are not the thought, you are the thinker thinking the thought. The essence of who you are is separate from the emotion. If you can choose how you think, you can choose how you feel.

Self discipline is the ability to do what you should do when you should do it whether you feel like it or not. The end result of self-discipline is freedom for a powerful and engaging life. Take the actions necessary to get what you want from life. This brings you power in your life. 5 steps to self discipline: Remember to be on time, show up, finish what you start, keep your promises and start with the small stuff.

The purpose of life is to be happy. The way to achieve happiness is to practice gratitude. Write down the things that you are grateful for. Live in the moment and live for today instead of focusing on the future. Bless the things and people around you and give more. The secret to living is giving. When we give, we open our hearts to receive more joy.
