A worship home for your congregation

Growing congregations, church plants and ministries between buildings all face the same question: where do we meet this Sunday, and the Sunday after that? A school cafeteria or hotel ballroom can work for a while, but setting up and tearing down a sanctuary every week wears people out. A space that already feels like a place of worship makes a difference to the people walking in.

The Center for Spiritual Living Fort Lauderdale is a spiritual community itself, so the building was made for gathering. The Center holds its own Sunday service earlier in the day. After 2 PM, the Main Auditorium is open for another faith community to call its own for the afternoon, week after week.

We are a New Thought center that welcomes people of every faith and background, and that welcome extends to other congregations. You bring your own worship, your own music and your own message. We provide the room, the parking and a team that wants your service to go well.

Sunday afternoon and weekday availability

Sunday afternoons after 2 PM are open for a recurring service. That slot suits congregations that already worship in the afternoon, ministries serving members who work Sunday mornings, and language or cultural congregations that prefer a later start.

Weekday availability is by inquiry. Some ministries want a midweek service or prayer night in the auditorium. Others need a smaller room for Bible study, choir practice or a leadership meeting. Tell Jim Wood what your week looks like, and he’ll tell you what’s open. The Center’s calendar also gives you a sense of what already happens in the building.

Before you commit, compare the rooms on our Oakland Park venue rental page. Questions about agreement terms, scheduling around holidays and building policies are best handled in conversation. The Director of Operations walks every group through the details before anything is finalized.

Which room fits your ministry?

Here’s how the rooms line up with the needs of a typical congregation. Every figure comes from our rental listing.

RoomSizeCapacityBest for
Main Auditorium2,944 sq ft275 auditorium-style, 110 seated dinnerWorship services, revivals, special services, livestreamed sermons
Multipurpose Room1,026 sq ft50 auditorium-style, 40 conference-style, 70 cocktail-styleFellowship hour, Bible study, membership classes, children’s or youth time
Welcome Lobby1,418 sq ft200 cocktail-styleGreeters, visitor welcome table, coffee after the service

Planning tip: Count your attendance on a high Sunday, like Easter or a homecoming service, and plan for that number, not your average. A room for 275 gives a congregation of 120 room to grow, and you won’t be looking for a new home again in a year.

How congregations use the space

Every ministry worships differently, and the building can flex to fit.

Sunday worship in the Main Auditorium

The auditorium is set in rows facing the front, with seating for up to 275. A worship team can lead from the front of the room, and the sound and video booth handles microphones, music and projected lyrics or scripture. A Center technician can run the booth during your service (ask about operator fees).

Fellowship, classes and children’s time

The Multipurpose Room is a separate room from the auditorium, so it works for a fellowship hour, a new members’ class or a separate time for children while the service runs. It has a whiteboard, round and rectangular tables with basic linens, and 50 banquet chairs. The Lobby, with its Guest Services desk, gives greeters a natural place to welcome first-time visitors.

Fellowship meals from a licensed kitchen

Breaking bread together after worship builds community. The licensed commercial kitchen has two microwave ovens, a commercial coffee maker, a double-door refrigerator and a commercial reach-in refrigerator with 26 tray holders. There’s no additional charge for kitchen use when you rent the Main Auditorium or Multipurpose Room. Place settings for 200 are on site, from dinner plates to water glasses.

Livestreamed services

Many congregations now worship both in the room and online. The Main Auditorium’s professional sound and video booth has streaming capabilities, projection and a presidential teleprompter, so members who are homebound, traveling or watching from another city can join your service live. You can see how the Center shares its own programs on its livestream page.
